Big No-no’s for International Market Listings

• You can not translate word-for-word for listings because sometimes words do not mean the same in their cultural context.
• It may sound offensive or really weird.
• Example: Plus size when translated literally would be “fat woman”.
• It will be really offensive, if you are not careful.

Tips

• German is another language that is sensitive and can not be translated word by word.
• Spanish, Italian and Japanese — these are languages that when you translate word by word, from English, would really sound weird or offensive.
• Do not skimp budget on translations.
