Big No-no’s for International Market Listings
- You can not translate word-for-word for listings because sometimes words do not mean the same in their cultural context.
- It may sound offensive or really weird.
- Example: Plus size when translated literally would be “fat woman”.
- It will be really offensive, if you are not careful.
Tips
- German is another language that is sensitive and can not be translated word by word.
- Spanish, Italian and Japanese — these are languages that when you translate word by word, from English, would really sound weird or offensive.
- Do not skimp budget on translations.
