A bit of a background

  • Paul Harvey is the co-founder of Seller Chatbots and is an Amazon mentor.
  • Paul Baron started Messenger Bot in 2018 and re-branded this in 2019.
  • Michelle Barnum-Smith, the queen of chat marketing has been in marketing for 20 years.

New Rules

  • Rules are now enforced more strictly.
  • Paid messages allow only a portion of your audience to see your broadcasts.
  • Think through the eyes of your customers — will they want to hear from you again?
  • The days of free promotions are ending.
  • Grow with the changes, it is cleaning up the herd.

Rebate campaigns?

  • Rank your products with rebate campaigns during the epidemic — for essential products.
    • Facebook ads are now more expensive. 
  • Build relationship with your audience — consider if full price rebate or discounted would work for you.
    • Base this on your niche and profitability.
  • Check out BOGO deals if it is applicable to your category.
  • Keywords are on sale right now!
    • Do your keyword research again and fine tune them.
    • This is the time to hoard keyword ranking.
    • This is the time to race to rank.
    • Look at the search volume on your keywords right now.
  • Have one brand page, get burn up pages too — you do not want rebate seekers!
    • Burn-up pages are pages where you can create ranking and afford to lose them. This is where you direct the rebate seekers.
    • You direct good customers to your main page and create relationships with them.
    • This way you spend effort on the right people.
  • Have something valuable that people want.
  • Have your audience find your product using: Search – Find – Buy
    • Always target through sponsored ads
    • Only 50% follow the instructions on the rebate.
    • use a mix of everything– just pour in traffic to your listing as fast as you can as much as possible, Make sure this is good quality traffic from buyers.
  • Check your keyword ranking when you are doing rebates — now is the best time to send your customers to your Shopify and back to you Amazon.
    • Pour in traffic to your website because if you drive them to you Amazon, it will tank your conversion.
  • Switch to FBM, because the lead time for FBA is much longer.
    • The delivery timelines change depending on your storage or facility location.
  • Product inserts — get those on your listings now!!

Other marketing strategies and the future

  • Build a following for your brand. Work on this now.
  • Place your prices lower on your Amazon site versus your website so that people will be driven to Amazon.
  • Facebook released study showing that 95% of consumers prefer chat as the communication platform.
  • If you have a consumable, you can give any offer and get them to subscribe.
  • Now is the best time to get on Messenger.
    • Make sure you jump on and do chatbots right now
    • This will be the WeChat of the west!
    • Messenger is just the tip of the iceberg, it will be attached on to many many platforms, soon.
  • How about WhatsApp?
    • Think long term!
    • WhatsApp will definitely integrate.
  • Advertising costs have gone down.
    • You have this captive audience, you can target for less money.
    • People love to do comfort shopping.
    • FB ads are real cheap!!
  • As long as you follow the rules, Amazon will not give you problems.
    • Make sure to have separate entities so you don’t tie your business in one account.
    • Have that fail account — new entity and new account, new address and so on.
  • Have multiple accounts always NEW BUSINESS ENTITIES.
    • Make sure to not make mistakes like using or adding your OLD ASINs.
    • This will get you flagged.
  • Make sure your customers will encounter delay –due to the current situations!
    • At least they understand what is the timeline.
    • Communicate with your buyers.
  • What you can implement:
    • Product inserts
    • keywords
    • Ads
  • There will be a race to rank!!!
    • Do not scramble at the last minute!
    • Get everything ready and prepare to get ready to hit GO!
  • Learn ManyChat.
